OPTION:
With guide but without rider
If you’re an expert scooter rider, and you’re confident that you can ride for several hours, successfully negotiating dangerous junctions, then you won’t need someone else to ride for you. If you choose this option, you must not under any circumstances drink any alcohol before or during the tour.
The price stays the same as it would be if you had a rider, but you are liable for insurance purposes for any damage to other vehicles (third-party insurance). For this reason, we will need a copy of your license, and we’ll also need your credit card details as a guarantee on the Vespa you’ll be riding.
OPTION:
With guide, without rider, carrying a passenger
If you’re an expert scooter rider, and you’re confident that you can ride for several hours, successfully negotiating dangerous junctions, you can ride the scooter yourself and carry a passenger behind you. If you choose this option, you must not under any circumstances drink any alcohol before or during the tour. You are liable for insurance purposes for any damage to other vehicles (third-party insurance), but your passenger is 100% covered. For this reason, we will need a copy of your license, and we’ll also need your credit card details as a guarantee on the Vespa you’ll be riding.

  • The tours are always available in English; you can request a guide in another language by writing well in advance to tour@bicibaci.com.
  • The tour is guaranteed to go ahead even in the event of bad weather. As they say, there’s no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing.
In the saddle of a Vespa, you'll reach the top of the Alban Hills, where you can visit the remains of the ancient city of Tusculum, founded by Telemachus, the son of Ulysses, before Rome itself had been founded. This vantage point encompasses the whole of Rome, right out to the sea; the air is fresher than in the city, and the humidity helps the luxuriant vegetation to grow. This area includes a wealth of protected parkland that plays host to chestnut groves and myriad butterflies, and conceals numerous small hill towns featuring Mediaeval castles towering above the edge of the lakes, and Renaissance villas with panoramic gardens.
The Romans would come to this area for its culinary specialities and to take relaxing walks surrounded by beautiful forests, vineyards and lakes.
There is an old tradition here, which involves finding the finest delicacies made by the various local producers and then savouring them in an eatery where you only pay for wine and the cover charge. The most renowned local dishes include porchetta di Ariccia (spit-roasted pork), Genzano bread with cold-pressed extra-virgin olive oil, mortadella romana (salted pork meat), pecorino romano cheese, and last but by no means least, the local wine!

This tour will show you a real Roman paradise. You can relax in the passenger seat while an expert Vespista takes control of the handlebars, as you feast your eyes (and your camera lens) on the stunning views before sitting down to savour the fine Italian food and wine made here, in an area that is way off the usual tourist trails
