OPTION:
With guide but without rider
If you’re an expert scooter rider, and you’re confident that you can ride for several hours, successfully negotiating dangerous junctions, then you won’t need someone else to ride for you. If you choose this option, you must not under any circumstances drink any alcohol before or during the tour.
The price stays the same as it would be if you had a rider, but you are liable for insurance purposes for any damage to other vehicles (third-party insurance). For this reason, we will need a copy of your license, and we’ll also need your credit card details as a guarantee on the Vespa you’ll be riding.

If you’re an expert scooter rider, and you’re confident that you can ride for several hours, successfully negotiating dangerous junctions, you can ride the scooter yourself and carry a passenger behind you. If you choose this option, you must not under any circumstances drink any alcohol before or during the tour. You are liable for insurance purposes for any damage to other vehicles (third-party insurance), but your passenger is 100% covered. In the saddle of a Vespa, you'll discover Rome's ancient port, the dunes of the Roman beaches, the Square Colosseum and the vibrant working-class Testaccio district! We'll take you along streets lined with highly creative architecture, and you'll walk through the ruins of the temples, villas, nymphaea, thermal baths, haylofts and warehouses of what was very much a jewel of Roman engineering: the ancient port of Ostia Antica.
Starting at Monte dei Cocci, out of which bars and nightclubs have been carved, you'll end the tour at Macro, the Museum of Contemporary Art.
We'll visit the famous cemetery for non-Catholics, where English poets and Italian intellectuals found their final resting place, in the shadow of a bona fide marble pyramid that's been there for millennia. We'll lead you through the streets of Garbatella, a district designed by the leading architects of the period and created out of a desire to give the working classes a dignified residential quarter with well thought-out communal spaces, featuring gardens and courtyards that to this day provide the base for a major touring drama festival.
Reaching the sea is always an evocative experience as the blue horizon suddenly opens up before your very eyes! We continue along the coast before we come to the Roman pine forest, where the boar still roam free, and then we reach the dunes, where you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the water.
Our next stop is the port of Ostia, which welcomes you with its friendly old town and Renaissance castle. Here, we'll get something to eat and perhaps sip on a beer before we head off in search of the incredible archaeology on offer in ancient Ostia (Ostia Antica).
The remains of the port of Rome are sure to astonish you: you will stroll through the ruins of the temples, villas, nymphaea, thermal baths, haylofts and warehouses of what was very much a jewel of Roman engineering.
On the way back, we'll pass through a district full of futuristic architecture, which was intended to be the venue for an international exhibition that in the end was never staged, due to the outbreak of the Second World War.

This tour will show you the genuine, modern Rome that lives and grows on the ruins of the great Imperial legacy, a million (figurative) miles from the tourist trails.
